Wind-Induced Vibration and Vibration Suppression of High-Mast Light Poles with Spiral Helical Strakes

چکیده

In this study, three-dimensional finite element models of high-mast light poles without and with spiral helical strakes were built using ANSYS software to investigate their vibration characteristics in a wind environment. Based on two-way, fluid–structure interaction simulation method, the dynamic responses under different windspeeds analyzed. The results indicate that pole structure may suffer from evident vortex-induced vibration, which is dominated by third mode windspeed range 5~8 m/s, whereas had no obvious vibration. external can amplify along-wind response certain extent, while significantly decreasing its crosswind response. suppression effect better when value pitch P small. Practically, if = 7.5 D (D diameter dominant mode), best. On other hand, remains constant, increases height H outer strakes. However, excessively high also increase structure. general, are used design, recommended values 0.20 D.

Vibration Suppression with Resettable Device

Novel low-power or semiactive devices are developed for vibration suppression applications. By manipulating the structural stiffness, the resisting forces generated by the devices are quite large and independent of velocity. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the devices and to justify the main assumptions used. The critical design issue of device placement is ...

Vibration Suppression with Approximate Finitedimensional

Based on a distributed parameter model for vibrations, an approximate nite dimensional dynamic compensator is designed to suppress vibrations (multiple modes with a broad band of frequencies) of a circular plate with Kelvin-Voigt damping and clamped boundary conditions. The control is realized via piezoceramic patches bonded to the plate and is calculated from information available from several...

Light-induced vibration in the hearing organ

The exceptional sensitivity of mammalian hearing organs is attributed to an active process, where force produced by sensory cells boost sound-induced vibrations, making soft sounds audible. This process is thought to be local, with each section of the hearing organ capable of amplifying sound-evoked movement, and nearly instantaneous, since amplification can work for sounds at frequencies up to...
